Help me give my students an Acer Aspire Laptop, an Ipevo Document Camera and Brother Printer/Scanner to establish a print and scan station for collaborative assignments and in class activities.
My school is a comprehensive high school that has a significant presence in town. It's virtually a one-high-school town, with an alternative school and a small private school as the only other options. Thus, the students who come through my classroom have incredibly varied backgrounds.
The students are diverse in every way possible: their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, academic ability, and race, just to name a few.
Happily, our attendance data proves that though they differ, they do have something in common: they are committed to learning and to academic success.
My Project
The Acer Aspire Laptop, Ipevo Document Camera and Brother Printer/Scanner will ensure that my students have the ability to produce collaborative work on campus in real time. It is impossible to guarantee that my students have access to these basic technologies at home, thus they need a place in my room to access such things. They will be scanning images and individual creations, printing out documents and using the laptop to combine them all into their own unique creations, including audio (hence the speakers).
We do many many writing and creative projects in class and this will guarantee that they can print those projects for collaborative review, editing and analysis; furthermore, they will be able to scan their non-digital work and preserve it both for their own review and for sharing with classmates in our course Google Drive.
