My students need a Macbook Pro for our classroom because our new district adopted math curriculum requires that it be presented digitally with a computer.
My students are rooted in South San Francisco and I'd like to help develop their wings to soar over the world.
My students come from a working class, diverse background.
Some of them are naive, some are street-smart, most are hard-working, articulate, eager to learn and eager to please, respectful, and they possess a wonderful sense of humor. They are at the age where they sometimes act as if they're not paying attention in class, but at the same time, they notice lots of little things about you. They are great kids, and they want to show you how well they can do. They work very well together, and without prompting, they help and support each other. I always say that I somehow manage to get the best kids in my classes!
My Project
I am currently using a Windows based computer, running on a Windows 7 platform, in my classroom. It was scheduled to be replaced, however, our site ran out of funds. Because my classroom computer is outdated, my students are not able to see our new digital curriculum at it's full potential.
The Macbook Pro will bring our digital math curriculum to life by allowing my students to see built-in videos clearly, bold colors vividly, animation that "pops", and hear sounds that flow.
They can experience all of this without "pause" time because my classroom computer frequently times out while it is trying to catch up to the internet speed.
Sometimes, it just takes a long time for the curriculum to load.
It's time for my classroom computer to get updated so my students can use our new digital curriculum the way it was meant to be used. It will help my students reach their full potential while enabling us to use our new curriculum to it's capacity.
