My students need a laptop, hd adapters, an Apple TV, toner, and laptop covers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are elementary school students at a Title I School in Florida. A majority of the students at the school are students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Being a Title I school means that we sometimes don't receive enough funding to get the best resources. A third of my students fall in the lower percentile of our school and struggle with both reading and math. I also have some higher students who can benefit from enrichment. Lastly, I have some students who are on level who often require a little review.
My students are champions in the classroom, and they will go on to change the world around them.
They are always eager to learn, and they work hard to grasp concepts. In my class a champion is one who comes to school on time and works hard and gives their best effort each and every day. They are respectful and friendly and treat each other as family!
"Experience is the teacher of all things!" As an educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide my students with rich and unique experiences that they would not ordinarily have. For this project, this experience will come in the form of storytelling. After completing our unit on "Wonder", my students will create their own Wonder Stories. These stories will focus on self-esteem, self-confidence, self-love, and acceptance. They will allow for students to bring their unique experiences to life. As a result of this project, my students will better understand each other and build genuine relationships. They will feel valued and understand that their lives matter. They will also gain valuable writing experience and make connections between school and the real world. Allowing them to tell their stories will transform their lives forever and help them to develop self-love. By helping my students to discover self-love, I can help them become lifelong learners. As a teacher, knowing my students and what motivates them allows me to tap into their hearts!
Students will use the resources in this project to create stories (both digital and print) that are unique to them and share those with others in our school.
Students will use the laptop to edit movies (using iMovie). The laptop cases will be used to protect the new computer. The Apple TV will project student screens as they brainstorm ideas. This will help other students to generate new ideas that they can possibly add to their movies and stories. Toner will be used to create the print books to be displayed around the room and throughout the school so that we can share our work with others. The movies will be shared over our school network and teachers will need the adapters to watch the students' movies.
