This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I serve a school in Harlem. My students are great learners who are interested in science. They are in the 7th grade. We have started a unit on human body systems and we would like to dissect a frog in order to compare human anatomy to a frog.
My students are African American and Hispanic.
Many come from poor families and I have some English Language Learners. My school is in a poverty area but we strive to give all of them a quality education. Students are being prepped for Regents exams.
My Project
My students will use the bags to properly store frogs. The bio fluid will be used to moisten the frogs so that they will not dry out. The dissecting kits will be used by each group in order to dissect the frog. Each student will be shown how to properly use the dissecting tools on the frog.
This donation will greatly impact science education at my school.
This will be the first year students will have an opportunity to dissect an animal. This will encourage students to continue to study and hopefully major in sciences once they get into college.
