Our community is small, but our hearts are big! We are a Gold Ribbon Awarded school, and our students love to learn! We are a very small-town community, where Friday-night football is a big thing, we have corn growing in our classroom garden, but we also make sure to give our students every opportunity to be exposed to the world! We have many students from agriculture backgrounds or famlies in the wine industry, but our community needs are changing, and our students need more.
In our current flexible seating classroom, I incorporate technology, creative thinking, hands-on manipulatives, arts, and project-based learning to make them independent excited learners.
I am wanting to add to our technology classroom, by adding in more hands-on learning that interacts with the existing tech elements.
They love to learn, and this is a very high-interest station in my classroom.
My Project
In our classroom, we use the OSMO hands-on learning stations to develop their math and problem solving skills. The OSMO utilizes an iPad in a base along with a camera to see what the students are using on the desk in front of the camera. They are able to build, draw, work with partners, and problem solve while interacting with the iPads in the 9 OSMO stations we have in our classroom. To add in the Pizza Co. and the Detective Agency would allow them to work with Geography, more problem solving, and introduction to money. These stations are also able to be done in partners, which allows more students to experience the adventures!
