Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach dual language in a high-risk district where resources are very limited. My students are dual language learners. They are learning to be bi-cultural and bi-literate using both English and Spanish vocabulary in specific subjects.
My students are always ready to learn every morning with big smiles, and they are eager and excited about what is in store for them each day.
They love doing hands-on projects. They are excited to show their creativity, and they enjoy being challenged every day at school.
My Project
My students need different color of construction paper to create a variety of things. I have learned that children analyze and express what they learn through the art they can produce.
They will be using different colors of construction paper at the beginning of the school year as we learn the alphabet when doing alphabet art.
This will help my students recall the letters and sounds in a fun way.
We will also be using construction paper to make different types of counters during our math time. This will help students better recognize and understand the quantities of the numbers we learn.
Creating things with construction paper will help my students ability to recall and express what they learn.
