This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm the librarian of a Title I high school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Our student population consists of tenth, eleventh, and twelfth-grade students. All of our student body receives free lunch. Many are reluctant readers who read more than two levels below grade level. However, despite the obstacles they face, our students are curious and motivated to learn. They just need more tools to encourage them to do so. They are incredibly creative and talented kids who are determined to make their mark in the world.
My Project
My students need an assortment of vinyl and transfer tape in order to utilize our Cricut cutting machine in the library. I've been working to develop our MakerSpace for a while now and the Cricut is extremely popular. There are unlimited projects we can create with our machine, but we need crafting supplies in order to do so!
Having a variety of vinyl on hand will allow students to use their creativity and produce amazing projects.
Basic black and white, along with some fun glitter vinyl will allow our students to make use of our new machine. One of the first projects my students want to work on is creating inspirational quotes to put up around the school. Thank you for considering our request!
