My Students

My students are innovative, energetic and eager to learn!

They love to learn, read and a hands on approach to learning.

Many are being raised in single parent households and many receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical".

Each day I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

Each year in second grade, we hatch chicks as part of our animal life cycles unit. In the past, we have received the supplies from our local 4-H club. Unfortunately, the equipment is outdated and inconsistent and we had little success last year. I would like to provide my class with the experience of hatching chicks with a brand new incubator to ensure success and make it a fun and positive experience

Students will be able to see first hand the birth of a live animal, they will care for these chicks until they are old enough to go to a local farm.
