My Students
My students are the leaders of tomorrow. They are bright and enthusiastic learners who are eager to explore the world around them. Our school is located in South Bronx, NY.
My students overcome many obstacles to succeed in a challenging environment.
They are strong and resilient. Many have the responsibility of looking after younger siblings at home. Some must drop off their siblings at their school before coming to school themselves. Many also work part-time jobs to help with household finances.
My Project
My students are old enough to prepare simple meals on their own. They can use these pots to boil pasta and rice, and they can use the frying pans to fry meat, eggs, and vegetables. They can make these meals for themselves and for their siblings and parents.
Meal preparation is a life skill that will continue to serve them into adulthood.
This will take some pressure off of parents who get home from work late in the evenings. It also decreases the number of processed snack foods my students eat each day while they wait for their parents to make dinner.
