Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing students are coming from some wonderful families who work very hard to support their families, but often have very little money to spend on their kids on experiences and educational opportunities.
The classroom is often their only chance to experience new things.
I would like for them to begin their educational journey with such a positive attitude and joy that their love for learning is ignited! Transitional kindergarten is a place of exploration and learning.

My Project
Cooking is learning! Having these cooking supplies will make it possible to cook in the classroom. The students will be able to prepare a meal together and then eat it together as a community. They will use their manners and share in the pride of a job well done. For example after reading the story Stone Soup, the students can bring it to life by making our own version of the soup! Having the students see what goes into cooking and learning the life skills of cutting, measuring and being safe is life long usable skill! A hot plate is needed to cook along with safety knives and mats to cut fruits and vegetables. Oven mitts and variety of utensils to include more students. Bowls to help contain and prepare non cooked food!
