My second grade students are so eager to learn! Their excitement excites me! I have 10 girls and 6 boys this year. We are a close-knit group of learners. We are always learning from one another.
Our school is made up of low-income families with varied social and academic backgrounds.
These differences we have make for an interesting, but more challenging, classroom environment.
In order for me to successfully reach all my students, I have to provide them with the tools they need to be the best student they can be.
My Project
Students spend almost seven hours in my classroom each day. Sitting in a hard and uncomfortable desk for that long can make anyone want to be elsewhere!
Research shows that an uncomfortable student can be a distracted and unproductive student.
Kids need movement, and flexible seating provides this to them. Flexible seating encourages students to choose a spot where they can be calm, comfortable, and focused. The ability to choose their own seat empowers students and makes them take a more involved approach to their education.
Whether students choose to sit on a wobble cushion, inflatable chair, balance ball, rug, or stool, they should be comfortable and ready for a full day of learning!
