My school is a large Title I school that is extremely culturally and economically diverse. We have students who are immigrants, refugees, and those who live in poverty.
More than ever before, students need early exposure to STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) activities to prepare them for a future where the careers they will have are not even invented yet!
My students come in my door every day with enthusiasm and excitement to learn. I try very hard to plan and provide authentic experiences that will challenge and help them connect to the world beyond the classroom.
My Project
When my Advanced Academic students come to my room, they come to be challenged! They love STEM challenges and are ready to integrate more technology and take on more sophisticated challenges. Teaching children to code is a fun and meaningful way to develop communication, creativity, math, writing, and confidence.
If our project is funded, these students will be so excited to interact with these robots that they won't even realize they are coding!
In addition, they will have to work in cooperative teams and utilize the Engineering Design process to address challenges presented to them.
Students will program with partners to set up challenging courses, explore and problem solve together. They can apply what they learn and expand their capabilities as their technology skills grow.
