Mrs. Rebecca Aguilera from Philadelphia PA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Let's Get Charged!

My students need an audio/video cart to charge our projector, computer and document camera at the appropriate height. They also need a lockable charging station for our Chromebooks and iPads.

My Students

"Computers themselves, and software yet to be developed will revolutionize the way we learn." ~Steve Jobs.

Have you ever been told, "You can try that when you are a little bit older?" Should there be a starting age for creativity and innovation?

They have to start somewhere and the limited technology that we have been blessed with needs a presentation cart and lockable charging stations.

I want to inspire my students and empower them through the arts and technology. My 6th-grade students are challenged daily and sometimes it does become a struggle. They tend to give up when the challenge is too much for them. I teach in a Title I, diverse K-8 high poverty school in a high crime area of Philadelphia. 100% of the students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. The children come to school eager to learn from various living situations such as single parents, foster homes, homeless shelters, or extended family living. They have various abilities and I strive to build their confidence in what they can do, not emphasize what they can't do. In addition to having challenging home and neighborhood issues, my students require frequent and varied activities.

My Project

This cart will be used to help my students learn and be engaged in their education. I can appropriately project from this cart so they can see how to do things.

Right now, I use several low desks with a mess of cords that are a tripping hazard.

They will use the Internet, images, coding programs and create video presentations. With appropriate equipment, they can visually connect to what we're learning. Children express themselves in different ways and I dream of a creative-rich classroom. It is my hope that with this cart, they will be inspired to create things and share their success with others. We have been blessed with Chromebooks and iPads that will be their gateway to creation. I can't wait to see what this technology and their young minds create. My students also need a lockable charging station for our laptops and iPads. We need a safe, organized place to keep technology charged.

"Design is how it works.” ~Steve Jobs

I have a class full of eager learners who come to school each day because they have the drive and the need to learn. The cart and lockable charging station would take a permanent place in my classroom so it will help children for years to come. Your donation can have rippling effects in the world to make it a better place. These are MY students, but OUR future. 2,4,6,8 we want a charging cart and can not wait.
