My students need updated tools such as power drills, soldering iron, stable vise, pvc cutters and circuit holder in order to be able to finish their project on time for their competition.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very excited to begin with their under water ROV project for this year's STEM semester, but with limited resources and used equipment, it has taken us a while to begin the task.
My students attend a Title I public school, with a student population of 2200+, predominately Hispanic, with 100% free and reduced price lunch participants.
Most come from a low income home with limited resources, which results in lack of interest in school. I believe they are wonderful students who are creative, passionate, open-minded, and hungry for the curiosity to build hands on engineering projects.
My Project
My students are looking forward to finishing up their under water ROV on time for competition, but with out dated materials, it has taken us much longer to complete some task, even start some task. The soldering irons don't warm up like before, the pvc, cutters no longer have a sharp blade, and the we need to wait days in order to get power drills from other teachers. Task that would have taken us a couple of days to finish have now taken weeks to complete due to students rotating because of the limited supplies. Even though we try our best to work and share materials with different grade levels, there just isn't enough time in the class to trade materials across classrooms, which is why we are in need for these tools. We create an under water ROV and students get to work with soldering iron when completing the control circuit box. However, we run into several students getting burned when soldering, which is why we are requesting a circuit board holder. We need power drills to drill holes in the PVC pipes to allow water to flow once the project is completed when maneuvering under water.
