Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 2nd grade is full of 23 fun-loving kids who are full of energy. The students are an amazing group of kiddos from the Chicagoland area. They are excited about school and learning. They are a mix of 7 and 8 year olds who are loving their adventure in school.
Our students are eager and excited to learn and try new things on a daily basis.
They are on their way to becoming life-long lovers of learning. They attend a Chicago public school. We are one of the many low-income schools where a majority of our students receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch.
My Project
My students need some insect related items to assist with their insect unit in Science; along with some art supplies to create our favorite bugs!
Science is a very important subject that my students need access to.
Learning about insects and their environment will help them better understand their surroundings.
We are requesting insect specimens, books, poster and models to really get a hands on look into the world of bugs!
The insect specimens will give us that up close and personal look at insects we might not be able to find, hold or handle. This will also be extremely helpful when working with the models and reading the books. Its a inside look into the world of insects, including but not limited to, what they look like, how they live, and how they survive.
We are also requesting watercolors, watercolor paper, clay, sharpies and other materials to create 3 dimensional insects along with drawing and painting some.
The hands on STEM projects help us connect our units to real life experiences. These materials will help the children learn about insects habitats, life cycles, and body parts.
