My Students

Some students with autism need more movement than others. When students with autism use a ball chair, the movement allows their brains to be engaged. They tend to focus better.

I teach students with autism who also require sensory engagement in their daily programming.

Sometimes the normal environment can cause them to become overstimulated. They receive occupational therapy to address their developmental gross motor skills, body strength, posture stability and bilateral coordination.

My Project

It is often recommended to use ball chairs to facilitate good posture and allow subtle movement (vestibular) input which can be very focusing and organizing to nervous system. The 2 requested ball chairs will address their unique needs and stimulate their senses. It will help to increase a sense of balance while also providing sensory input. My students will benefit from this effective seating option which will help them stay in their seats and focus.

My student's attention-spans will sharpen using the ball chairs and their ability to perform should increase.

It will decrease their need to have to physically get out of their seat to move.
