I currently teach first grade and my class has a variety of learners and interests. The students are performing at various levels including, approaching, on and above level. We use various programs that spark their love for learning and reading.
As a teacher, I try to tap into each and every students learning style to help each student reach their potential every single day.
We will sing songs, use technology, physical education, science and so on to continue to keep students excited about learning.
As a school and grade level we work together to help our students in different ways. We collaborate daily and have support from each other. All of these types of collaboration help each and every child succeed in all academic and social areas.
My Project
Being in first grade requires a lot of thinking, creating and doing. It's exciting and motivating for me, as their first grade teacher, to watch my students become readers, mathematicians and scientists throughout the school year. However, many times during the day we are required to use markers, chart paper and pencils. Often many students are missing these supplies and this hinders our learning. I need to stock my classroom with basic supplies so every child will have the simple resources they need.
I'm requesting chart paper, pencils, markers and post-its for basic supplies for my students to use each day.
The post-its and pencils are used everyday for writing and responding to questions and ideas throughout the day. I'll use the chart paper to create anchor charts for the students to refer to throughout the day to give them the support while they are working. The markers are going to be used for students to highlight, write and create their own charts. The enlarged counting chart will help students who are visual learners to count and understand numbers around them.
