Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students have been using pinnies that have been around for several years. Even though they are washed regularly they seem to have a permanent stench.

Our students come from a low-income area of a large city.

Over 90% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. This is a public charter high school that serves over 700 students. They come in below the state and national averages in academics. The majority of our student body is Hispanic and some struggle with English since they are second language learners.

My Project

We are currently in team sports and we play sports ranging from volleyball, soccer, basketball, and a great amount of physical fitness. Currently our pinnies are extremely old and even though we clean them regularly they seem to have a permanent stench. It would be great to have new pinnies!

Physical fitness is an important part of our culture at our school.

We also have a very intense college prep curriculum and I believe the physical education class provides an outlet for our students to relieve stress.
