Our school is located in Helena, Montana located in the 7th Ward District. We are the highest poverty school with around 250 students. All of our students receive free breakfast, lunch and food backpacks are sent home to targeted students.
Our families live in low income housing, with many living with one parent who are struggling with their own issues.
Our students have huge emotional and social issues entering school with a high population of special needs. The students have many hurdles to become successful learners without early interventions.
My Project
My students need to feel successful with handwriting and would benefit from specialized writing tools! This would allow struggling students to feel proud of their work and have less frustration having weighted pencils. Some of the students need various types of seating to relieve anxiety and increase their time on task!
It is critical for all children to have success in the class, and
by providing the right adaptive tools this enhances their opportunity. The special seating will get their wiggles out and provide them a way to stay focused. All my students will benefit from special tools and various seating!
