Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project services 24 kindergarten students, ages 5-6. We are a Title I School and the majority are from economically disadvantaged homes.
The classroom is diverse; full of different languages, ethnicities and learning styles.
Kindergartners love hands-on activities and learning through play! These students need more opportunities to learn how to use equipment responsibly. They are ready and willing to learn new games and skills. These PE activities will foster a healthy classroom where cooperation, sportsmanship and growth mindset is continually reinforced.
My Project
My students need more opportunities for physical activity and outdoor play! They love PE but our classroom is seriously lacking in equipment.
Sports and physical activity improves concentration and teaches important life-skills!
Of course, PE is also all about being active and healthy! We will use the items from this project during PE and recess. The scooter boards are a fun way to develop motor planning and core strength. The hula hoops, jump ropes, and ball hops help with balance and coordination. We will use the scoop balls and disks to improve hand-eye coordination. The bean bags, cones, and spots will be used for games and team building activities.
The students cannot wait to learn new things and fuel up on FUN!
