Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special needs students are in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. They express a desire to learn and be successful in life. We are a Title One school and the majority of my students come from low socioeconomic households and receive free or reduced lunch while at school. Academically, they are in the lowest 25% of their grade level. Too many are faced with various challenges and obstacles in their everyday lives, yet, these students attend school daily and focus on their education.
"Special needs" is not a roadblock to success, it's perseverance that will not quit.
My students have dreams and goals and it is my job to effectively prepare them for the future. In order to do this, the availability of resources is essential. Please help me bring technology combined with Science into my classroom so that these children can succeed.
My Project
My classroom is STEM centered and an iPad will allow my class to independently enter the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. My students will be able to build on their strengths and interests through various apps such as YUP for help with Science homework and NASA Visualizer to explore outer space.
With the iPad, my special needs students will be able create amazing STEM projects and continue to immerse themselves into the world of technology.
The world of STEM knows no bounds. My students will use the iPad as a tool for problem solving skills in a creative and challenging manner and have fun while learning.
