Let’s Focus on Being Flexible - Learning Environments, That Is
My students need a way to help them focus and get the wiggles out. Flexible seating with lap desks, chair Bouncy Bands, and fluorescent light filters will definitely assist in providing a stimulating learning environment.
I work at a Title I school where over 74% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches. I am blessed to be working with 17 of these highly inquisitive, very active, second-graders this school year.
Many of my students have difficulty focusing in a traditional classroom seating arrangement.
Our classroom chairs are hard molded plastic and our lighting comes from the glow of harsh, overhead, fluorescent lights.
I want to provide them with a comfortable learning environment where they’ll thrive.
My Project
My students love using alternative, flexible seating. This wasn’t possible when using our Chromebooks. The lap desks will be perfect solution! They can choose a “just right” spot, where they will be able to use the technology with less distractions from others.
Fluorescent light glare causes eye strain and even headaches, but the soothing blue light shades are proven to help provide a calming atmosphere and assist students with focus issues.
During our whole-group mini-lessons, they often need to sit in the hard molded plastic chairs. The bouncy bands will help them remain focused and bounce the wiggles out, until they can move into flexible seating choices to work.
