I have 20 exciting and eager-to-learn first graders. My school is a K-8 Gold Ribbon School as well as recently receiving the Title I Academic Achievement award. Our school is the only K-8 school in the district. We received the distinguished award this year due to our excellent programs.
First grade is such an exciting grade.
It's where their beginning reading and writing skills are formed. This is a very crucial stage of their development. First grade is a time of learning not only about academics but about independence and social skills as well. My hope is that by creating an environment that encourages cooperation, taking care of school materials, and managing their own school tools, they will be ready for the challenges of 2nd grade.
They are truly a class full of readers and learners. They love to show kindness each day by being "bucket fillers." We work collaboratively any chance we can, whether with "big buddy" reading, sharing resources, creating our school garden, or celebrating successes. Each student is greeted every morning by our smiling, ready to give a hug, principal and staff members.
My Project
I would like to finish the rest of the year and also start off the new school year with plenty of Lysol disinfectant wipes. My students, as well as myself, enjoy a nice clean room to learn and grow in. At the end of each day, I will be able to wipe down all the desks as well as the commonly touched areas.
My goal is to not only provide a safe and positive learning environment but a clean and healthy one as well.
This will help my students stay healthy and able to learn.
My students also need glue sticks. We use glue sticks every day in our Math interactive journals to help strengthen our math skills. We also need glue sticks for the various projects in first grade. We are always in need for laminating sheets. This is a great way to insure our materials last throughout the years.
We recently received an HP printer that has greatly impacted student learning. We now need the very precious ink cartridge The HP printer has enable students to immediately see and share their work, either with others at school, or take home to families with pride. In first grade there are countless projects, both group and individual, that require time to create.
I'll be able to bring innovative learning and exciting projects to my students. They'll be thrilled to share what they learn in new ways!
