Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is a special place where students transition from the informal learning at home to a more formal and specialized learning provided by the school community.
My 25 kindergarten students come from a vibrant and diverse urban neighborhood nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania.
In my classroom, there are a variety of languages represented. Many of my students come from broken homes, who are poverty stricken, and who are just struggling to make ends meet. Despite these setbacks, my students come eager to learn each and every day.
My goal as an educator is to provide a comfortable environment conducive to learning, growing, and maturing intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. My students never cease to amaze me. Their energy and creativity inspire me to be the best teacher I can be and to provide them with the tools and skills they need to cultivate their own garden of knowledge.
My Project
Kindergarten is a special time for new beginnings and growth. One opportunity and professional obligation I have as a primary educator is the responsibility to help spark students' interest in the area of reading. I believe having a diverse collection of literature is important in achieving this love of reading.
Providing a diverse collection of literature for all interest levels can be beneficial in sparking that LOVE OF READING.
