My students need open-ended toys such as LEGO bricks, ZOOB builders, and a dollhouse to strengthen language and mathematical concepts for Kindergarten.
My classroom is filled with bright young students that are excited to come to school every day! Literally, they complain on Friday because there is no school for two days! The classroom is a Young 5 class for students that will enter into Kindergarten next year. Much of the curriculum is structured to fill in all the learning one needs to be successful in Kindergarten.
Many students in my class are learning English as a second language.
My classroom is one of their best opportunities to increase their book knowledge, learn lifelong social skills, and to learn through play and not screen time. There are many needs and gaps to cover during our school day.
My Project
My students are increasing their knowledge of the world and their language skills through play. We currently have limited materials for our Engineering Play Area. I would like to increase their exposure to high quality open ended materials to increase their learning! The LEGO bricks, ZOOBs and dollhouse will help children have more hands-on learning opportunities. These items will also benefit all children's interests in my classroom.
Our materials are limited and the children are thirsting for more options to expand their learning.
This is a brand new classroom offered in our school and a limited amount of materials were provided to open it up. The LEGO bricks, ZOOBs and dollhouse will help fill in the holes to help the kids learn!
