Let's Explore the World!

My students need Scholastic News and Time for Kids Magazine to help them build their knowledge of social studies and science.

My Students

Students in my classroom come from low-income families in Chinatown, Manhattan of NY. My classroom is an ICT class with a mix of English Language Learners and students with disabilities. My students all have different learning needs and academic levels. It becomes difficult planning activities for them to work on individually or to collaborate in small groups. Elementary school years are very important. A strong foundation should be implemented for these students. My students' small accomplishments mean the world to them; it helps them boost their self-confidence and self-esteem.

My Project

Scholastic News and Time for Kids magazines will allow my students to have different ways to access their information in social studies and science. Students with special needs and English language learners will also be able to utilize the information using the pictures, captions, and bullets, which allows different ways to access the information.

The magazines will give students access to the information they need to make them more well-rounded and knowledgeable individuals in the world.

They will also be able to work in small groups to share the different events that have occurred in the world making the learning more meaningful and relatable for the students.
