Help me give my students a chance to go camping and allow every student to have a NEW sleeping bag (for sanitary reasons) and so each child will have warm bedding after camp!
Our school has about 550 students. We are a fully authorized International Baccalaureate School. We serve students in grades High-5 through 5th grade. Our school provides students with a strong academic foundation as critical thinkers who choose and act responsibly with respect for self, community, and the environment. We believe that all students can learn. The amount of effort that you put into everything will make a difference with your abilities academically, socially, and behaviorally.
79% of our students receive free and reduced meals (breakfast/lunch).
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds (Latino-American, African-American, Native American, European-American, and Somali). Many of our students have special academic and behavioral needs, which include English Language Learners Services, Special Education Services, Autism, Gifted and Talented, and Watercourse Mental Health Counseling.
With our students having the opportunity to take part in this program, you are helping kids’ dreams come true – while also building for a brighter tomorrow through creating well-rounded future leaders. We know this experience has the potential to change our student’s lives and challenge them to do things they never thought were possible.
My Project
We are getting our 5th graders out into nature! We need help purchasing sleeping bags in order to give our students an outdoor environmental experience. Each student will get their own brand new sleeping bag to use and keep.
We have 75 students in our 5th grade group and they need sleeping bags for our Outdoor Environmental Experience.
This experience fits with our IB Unit, Sharing the Planet. Our Central Idea is Environments need balance in order to sustain themselves. Our 3 lines of inquiry are: An inquiry into Natural Systems, An inquiry into How People Impact the Environment, and An inquiry into Current Environmental Issues.
