Hooray! This project is fully funded

I am a third year teacher at San Fernando Middle School. I am now two weeks from going back into the classroom. For this past week, I have been focusing on researching online resources that will allow me to implement technology into my classroom. Through these internet searches, I discovered an amazing website that I know will engage all of my students(approximately 170 per semester) for the coming year. This website is entitled BrainPop and it can be accessed through www.BrainPop.com. BrainPop is a large collection of 4-5 minute digital clips that teach many of the challenging concepts that our students are meant to master by the end of each grade level. The site contains approximately 950 video clips in the following subjects areas: mathematics, history, English, Science, History, and Technology. Being a math teacher however, I am mostly interested in the 200 or so clips that are geared towards 7th and 8th grade students. Through it's visual algorithms and real life connections, these student friendly videos are sure to engage the students at a very high level while giving me the opportunity to use differentiated instruction as a way to address all of the learning styles that encompass a middle school classroom. Along with video clips, the BrainPop website also has other useful aspects. Some of these include one online quiz, one worksheet, and direct correlations to L.A.U.S.D. content standards per video. For all the above reasons, I am writing this proposal to you because I would love to incorporate this engaging, technology oriented website into my curriculum. The "Teacher Access would guarantee me access to BrinPop on 3 different computers with a maximum of 15 log-ins per day. According to BrainPop, this teacher access package is "best for 1-2 teachers using BrainPop throughout the day. My hope is that if granted this proposal, I may share it with another teacher so that we can double the number of students who will benefit from this awesome educational tool. Finally, in an effort to raise student grades in mathematics, I was given full access to an LCD projector for this coming year. I can't imagine a better use for this LCD projector than to project the BrainPop clips onto my overhead screen for all the students to view, enjoy, and analyze. In conclusion, thank you very much for your consideration of this proposal and I certainly hope that you may approve it.
