Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school, where I teach first grade students. According to last year's statistics, 493 students are enrolled in our school. 82% of which live in high-need households. 36% are considered English Language Learners (ELL), and 8% are reported to receive special education services.
My students are the first class of dual language learners in our school.
As a dual language teacher, my goal is to provide the resources my students need to learn, explore, and create.
My Project
As the end of the year approaches, our art supplies are running low. My students needs a classroom set of markers for various activities, including math and reading projects that focus on visual arts. A set of scissors and glue sticks will help build our Makerspace area, a place where students can create projects based on their passion and interest. This is especially important for my ELL students who need multiple mediums to express their thinking and creativity.
Providing my students access to art materials will help them succeed as learners.
My students come to school eager to learn and share their thinking. Many times, they only need materials to demonstrate their learning. Please consider supporting my students as we approach the end of the school year.
