My Students

My classroom is filled with thinkers, risk takers, and principled curious students. Some of these students come each day with full stomachs, clean clothing and a healthy snack. Others come to get breakfast at school, wear the same clothes each day and can't afford to bring a snack. Yet, no matter how they enter the school, they all come ready to learn, with smiles on their faces.

The community where my school is located is an amazing one.

The community supports the local school, teachers, and students in any way they can. Our community, however, has one of the highest property taxes in our state while most of the residents are middle-class people. This makes it hard for donations to be made to the classroom. I love the school I work at and feel blessed to have such an amazing class!

My Project

Visualizing is an important aspect of first-grade learners. It is important to me to be able to reach each kind of learner and one way I could do this is through a document camera. Not just any though, a wireless one is ideal so that the document camera doesn't need to be attached to my computer to be able to be used.

Students would be able to see on a larger scale the book we are reading, the artifact we are inquiring into or the TIME for kids we are doing a close reading on.

Having a document camera that can project these items onto the smartboard would be a game-changer for students and for myself.
