Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students bring out the best in me. They inspire me to work harder, and do more, every day. I am so proud of their desire to learn and grow, and of my school's passion to be a positive driving influence in their lives.
Our school's mission is create a community of bilingual, multicultural, life-long learners committed to academic excellence and leadership, while celebrating diversity and individuality.
Our school, which is Title I, works hard every day to meet the needs of all of our students, including the more than 90% who receive free or reduced-priced lunch.
We do not take the obstacles presented to them, as an excuse to have lower expectations, to the contrary we believe that because our students already have the odds against them, it is our duty as teachers to push them harder. Our desire to help our students succeed in this world, has helped us become innovative. They bring out true passion in anyone who has the experience to teach them.
My Project
Our classroom needs more tablets, with protective cases! These tablets will help motivate and engage my students during small group and independent learning time.
The learning possibilities are endless with technology!
With our first Creating and Learning with Technology project, we received two kindle tablets with protective cases. They have been an amazing addition to our classroom. We need more of these tablets so that my students can continue to create and manage individual learning portfolios using Google Classroom and Class Dojo without waiting to long for a turn. In addition to creating learning portfolios, my students will also be able to practice what they have learned using different learning applications during our language arts and mathematics small group and individualized learning centers. They will be able to improve their reading fluency by reading and listening to their favorite books. Lastly, they will be able to become familiar with other Google for Education Apps, which they will use as they continue moving-up in our school.
