Let's Do Puzzles to Boost Critical Thinking!

Help me give my students the tools they need for a brain-boosting environment. Young children need variety. Putting old puzzles away will make them new again after a few weeks of not being used.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from New York City are the youngest students attending NYC public schools. I currently have fifteen students and they truly brighten my day. Their smiles are contagious and their curiosity motivates me to keep them engaged with hands-on activities. I love learning about their interests through the conversations I have with them on a daily basis.

They eagerly follow directions and love to draw, paint at the easel, build puzzles, and pretend play at the dramatic center.

My friendly preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. My school is a Title 1 school, and these students can really use your help to support their education.

My Project

In our classroom children learn through play. During centers, the children have the choice to use any materials they want to work with. We are in desperate need of puzzles for center time since they are one of the most popular toys in the classroom. I have six puzzles that already gave our children plenty of practice and need to be put away and replaced with some new puzzles. Working with puzzles is an important practice in the development of young minds.

Puzzles contribute to the development of critical thinking skills, spatial reasoning, fine motor skills, and eye-to-hand coordination as well as the overall improvement of cognitive ability.

By donating to this project, you will not only help to promote the development of their critical thinking skills, you will in the long run help to strengthen the skills of creativity and problem solving.
