My Students
My students experience difficulties, both academically and socially. Their problems relate to their home situations, financial instability, poor parental involvement and lack of motivation. This transfers negatively to their learning.
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% living in one of the four shelters around our school, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment.
I want to provide activities where they will be engaged and thrilled and get the chance to change their negative feelings about learning into positive ones. My students need to believe in themselves. They need to know that they can be creative thinkers and assets to the community.
My Project
The 'in-thing' nowadays are STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), STEM, and Technology. So to keep up with the trend, teachers try to have all the necessary resources. In regards to technology, a Cricut in the classroom will be worthwhile to assist my students as they complete STEAM art projects.
My students need resources to boost their creativity and help them produce top quality work.
As they focus to design, build, create, print and produce, they challenge themselves beyond their expectation to a higher level, and this gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment.
With the ink, they will be able to print out their work, which will be added to their completed projects. They will use the headphones to focus on their work and not be interrupted by any unnecessary distractions. I want them to feel like they are great designers, architects, builders, computer technicians, artists, engineers, to name a few, as they work on their projects. Who knows, this might be their future career.
Believe me, helping my students get these necessary items would surely put some smiles on their faces and encourage them to do the best on their work.
