Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school was founded on grassroots community efforts to support students from poverty-stricken, unstable home environments and to help them become future Leaders in their community. Our students come from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds and most receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our mission is to provide a healthy, enriching and safe environment for our kids.
We are located in a lower income neighborhood and crime and gang activities surround our school.
Thanks to our Administration, Visual Art classes are offered to all grades from Kindergarten to the Eighth grade. It is heartwarming to see our students excited to come to school and participate in art class. It is why many of the students come school.
My Project
Our students will have the opportunity to create many two dimensional art projects using variety sized paper. Since paper needs to be cut to specific sizes, a paper cutter will allow for easy and accurate cutting.
A paper cutter is an essential tool in the art class.
Cutting paper in the art class is a daily routine and without a paper cutter, it becomes difficult and time consuming using scissors to cut paper for 400 students a day. Sometimes paper needs to be cut during art class and without a paper cutter, this becomes a challenge. Time between art classes is typically five minutes, so having a paper cutter will allow easier transitions between classes.
In summary, a paper cutter will give speed, ease and accuracy to cutting paper in the art room. Students will be able to enjoy many two-dimensional paper art projects with accurately cut paper.
