Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Transitional Kindergarten students attend a Title 1 school and they have being doing the best they can during this extremely difficult time. Currently we Zoom everyday to sing, read and talk. I love that we are able to see each other, but I wish I could provide more art materials for them to use at home while following our distance learning plan. TK is all hands on learning when we are in the classroom, so this has been a difficult transition knowing they may not all have the supplies they need.
My class is full of kind, loving, creative young citizens that are empathetic to the world around them.
They are always willing to lend a smile on Zoom to a friend that is feeling down. I truly believe the connection we have made as a class is what is getting us through this difficult time. I wish I could be with them everyday like I was in the classroom to see them grow and learn, but Zoom is the next best thing.
My Project
My young TK students are in need a variety of art supplies such as scissors, glue, paint, multicultural crayons, whiteboards and chalk to continue their love of creating while they are away from school. At school we would paint, cut and color everyday! All of our learning is through doing, so I know that they are missing that. By providing my students with these materials they will be able to continue to learn and grow while staying safe at home.
TK is not TK without the use of arts supplies!
My students learn by creating and these materials will help their distance learning plan feel more familiar. The use of these materials will help develop their fine motor skills as well as nurture their creative minds. Most importantly it will help lift their spirits during this difficult time! I can't wait to paint, cut and craft together on Zoom!
