Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I inner-city school. My students come from a community where they may be the first to attend college in their family. Many of my students face adversities such as hunger, broken homes, and an overall difficult home life. I aim to be the stability my students need to succeed.

If you do, you never cease to grow.” – Anthony J.D’Angelo. I want to be the teacher that will allow my students to grow a passion for learning.

My classroom is very diverse. For three-quarters of my students English is not their home language. Two of my students have IEPs, one has a 504, and I submitted 4 RFAs this year. By providing my students with the requested materials they will not only learn but to enjoy the process of learning.

My Project

Our school has a huge focus on our students' success, but our geographic location means that our children are at a disadvantage. Our families lack funds to provide our students with basic school supplies.

The Velcro dots, ink, laminating sheet, and colored paper will allow me

to create more resources for my students. The lights will allow us to celebrate student learning gains. The magnets and rods will allow me to display anchor charts for my class. The treats are incentives for my students.

I have chosen a dry-erase writing center board. This board will give my students flexible seating during differentiated instruction by allowing me to teach them at our classroom rug. The Velcro dots will allow me to create more resources for my students. The lights will allow us to celebrate our learning gains. The poster paper will allow me to make anchor charts for my class. The treats and sand bath station are for our classroom pet as the students love seeing him happy.
