This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are an innovation school this year. This means that our school has been given a chance to provide even more meaningful opportunities to the students in our boundaries. Students at my school receive free and reduced lunch. I have a classroom of fourth grade students that range in all different ability levels. Our school is also a Project Restore School. Each week students take math tests and are also assessed on reading skills. Both are cumulative and rigorous, which means skills can not be forgotten and are always practiced.
My Project
I am constantly printing things from my computer to use with my students. Our classroom newsletter is one of those items. The newsletter provides parents and students the information about what is coming up for that week. I send home information about learning concepts and dates to remember. You can imagine how fast my toner runs out of my printer! The newsletters I send home are on colored copy paper. This is a way parents can differentiate the newsletter from all the other papers their student brings home.
It has been proven that our brains respond to color more than a plain, white piece of paper.
Because of this my parents and students can recall the information in the newsletters more effectively.
