I teach STEM to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade and I teach Robotics to Middle school and High school students in a Charter School located in Las Vegas. Students quickly fall in love with robotics. They look forward to creating and building each day. Robotics helps them to develop a lifelong love of technology and engineering and it sparks their interest in the areas of STEM. At our school, we teach our students all aspects of STEM. We teach them the engineering design process, how to explore, create, test, design and improve.
Students at our school are encouraged to discover and develop their talents.
Our school has a thematic approach to integrating core areas of study such as mathematics, reading, language arts, writing, science, and social studies.
My Project
As a STEM teacher I am devoted to inspire students to think about a future in a STEM related career. We use Vex Robotics platform in our high school robotics elective classes and Vex IQ platform in our middle school robotics classes. My goal as a Robotics teacher is to also make technology and engineering as hands-on and interactive as possible. However, our robotics classes aren't solely meant to train future engineers.
VEX classes are designed to provide a framework for teaching everything from math and computer science to life skills like teamwork, project management, and critical thinking.
We intend to use the laptops to teach the students to program their robots. Students will be learning to use RobotC programming language in middle school and Vex Pros (C++) programming language in high school.
