This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I've been working with some of these young ladies for over a year, They are determined and ready to take on any task. They are always ready to get the job done.. They are very creative and are always down for a challenge. This small group of ladies spend their time with me creating things, that they can look back on after leaving me, reliving those fun moments. I know they would be proud and would cherish the items as they move on to their other schools. We usually work on projects which I picked up as I browse online, and I just know my girls would love to get their hands into making it. The smiles I see on their faces, when their project is completed is all worth it. Knowing the time spent creating these amazing memories will be worth while is all that really matters.
My Project
While the world is in a pandemic, my goal is to have a bit of fun to take my student's minds off of the "elephant in the room". Working together to make sure that each of them gets to create something the will be proud of as well as to enjoy their time spent with me.
Their creativity skills will be put to the test, creating scoops of ice cream with crepe paper, their hands will become steady with painting the flavor of the scoops, into sheets of paper provides telling a story of their favorite flavor,, as well as strategically placing each scoop of ice cream (half foam balls) onto their cones (also foam) without spilling it onto their aprons.
At the end of their creativity they'll have souvenirs (the aprons (I'll personalize the aprons with their names and a picture of their creation. I'll use the ink to make those printed art photos come alive for them), the ice creams they created and all the memories.
