This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very energetic and love to learn. They come from very diverse backgrounds and most do not have the luxuries that some students are accustomed to. They never complain. My students love being at school, because not only do they learn, but they have food and they are safe.
I teach the greatest 2nd grade students in the world.
Our school is a Title I school and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. They always strive to do their best despite the challenges they face outside of school.
My Project
In my classroom we use pocket charts often and we need a place to hang them. They are used in reading, math, science and social studies to display things like the lesson objectives. The pocket charts I use are interactive with the students for things like a daily question and a graphing chart. The students know that those charts are very valuable information.
We need a way to display the charts that enable the students to view them in the most logical and educational way.
The chart stand my students helped choose for the class has a nice sturdy bar to hang the charts on. It also has a magnetic board that the students and I can write on and can display other charts that have a magnetic strip. It also has nice storage on the bottom to make everything convenient. Students will be able to interact with this new stand because the storage, whiteboard, and bar will make a great literacy and math center when we do small flexible groups.
