Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best. I teach in a rural school, which is a Title I school. Many of my students have had limited exposures to literacy in their lives.
Most of my class qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
English is their second language for a majority of my class. These student are so eager to learn and absorb new learning like a sponge. The parents of my students want the very best for their children and are very encouraging and supportive.
My Project
We will use these materials to make student friendly anchor charts in our kindergarten classroom. Markers and chart paper are supplied to us at the beginning of the school year, but they have gotten well used in the first semester.
I would love to have fresh markers and chart paper as we begin our second semester of learning.
My students love creating original anchor charts or working on team projects on the big "fancy" teacher paper.
We also love to use manipulatives in our classroom. We sort them by beginning sounds, living and non living, etc. The ones we currently have were in my classroom when I came 6 years ago, so many of them are broken and need replacing.
