Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening. These are the basic skills needed to succeed in school. Wait! What about technology for the 21st century learners?
I teach at a Title I school in Houston with a population of almost 1,400 where students are of diverse cultural and low socioeconomic backgrounds.
All our students receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
Hurricane Harvey totally devastated our city, and our students were greatly affected. Despite this terrible situation, our students are eager to learn and succeed. It is therefore imperative that every opportunity is given to them, thus having access to new technology will give them a great advantage.
My Project
Since our class will be using our newly donated Chromebooks and iPads, it is very important that we create a plan on how to properly store and care for them.
The best way for us to maximize technology use, is to have these devices fully charged, secured and prepared everyday.
However, this can only be done with a secure charging station. If we will be fortunate enough to receive a charging station, this will let us charge all our technology everyday. Aside from that, the charging station will safely keep our stored devices in a locked place, assuring us that the devices are all accounted for, ready to be utilized by my students.
