My students need a document camera to be used to keep all students actively engaged while learning about nutrition and promoting learning through scientific inquiry.
With the economic hardships our students and families face today teaching our children about nutrition has fallen to the wayside. Children do not understand health and nutrition or how to eat healthy. We, as teachers, are now confronted with students struggling with obesity and health issues.
My class consists of 24 highly active and curious students, who love to question the world around them and make real world connections.
All day I hear “why” and “how is it connected?” Our classroom currently lacks the technology and resources to support our students' learning and inquiry experience. We will also be sharing this technology with five other kindergarten classes.
My Project
I would like to teach my students about nutrition and making healthy choices. If we start in kindergarten we are giving these children tools that will last a lifetime. Learning about an assortment of fruits, vegetables and other healthy choices available will promote the good eating practices supported by the FEED USA campaign. I am requesting a document camera to be used to keep all students actively engaged while learning about nutrition and promoting learning through scientific inquiry. Students will be able to see foods, plants, and other materials in three dimensional, larger than life images. They will understand why good nutrition is important and how their choices affect their health. The technology will allow us to research any nutrition and health questions that might arise. I hope to impact my students’ nutritional choices today and for the rest of their lives.
Your help will enable my students to grow to be educated so that they can make healthy choices.
Teaching nutrition is a lifelong investment in our children. Our nutrition and health program needs your support!
