Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students have demonstrated their love for learning whether in the classroom or remotely. Their daily smiles during our Zoom meetings show that they are ready to learn and meet the daily challenges despite the current circumstances. When prompted to get paper and pencil, they hurry around their homes and return saying, "I'm ready!" Their enthusiasm is what motivates me to plan lessons that are fun, rigorous, and engaging.
Their hard work and determination to thrive as leaders, learners, and digital citizens makes me so proud.
My Project
Although our world is a diverse place, we need to teach students about people outside of their immediate family.
As an educator, my goal is to introduce books, educational software, digital articles, and videos so that students see themselves or their family represented.
The children's books I have requested, will be read during our whole group and small group lessons to engage all students in a meaningful discussion about diversity. Through our collaborative conversations, students will expand their knowledge about individuals from similar and different backgrounds. Ultimately, they will learn about the humanity of other people.
The Mac laptop will be utilized as a tool to create an inclusive classroom, by introducing a different worldview through the usage of educational videos, articles, and digital books.
The reality is that many students continue to rely on the educational system to give them a quality education, in which they see themselves as valued and productive members of our society. .
