My Students
I believe it is my duty to provide a learning environment that gets my students excited about reading and technology.
Our classrooms are full of students from a variety of backgrounds, but we all come together as one big family at school. My students live in a small rural community of about five thousand people. Approximately 41.5 percent of students at our school are living at, or below, the poverty level. Most of their families consist of blue-collar workers living paycheck to paycheck.
My Project
Students often ask for books fun picture books to read about all sorts of holidays. They especially like books with familiar characters. The current holiday books collection in the Olalla library is from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The old books are simply not appealing and are terribly out of date.
This selection of winter and spring holiday books will stock the library with quality, up-to-date books that are sure to please even the most reluctant readers.
This project includes over 30 fiction and non-fiction books about a variety of holidays. There is a little something for everyone: New Year's, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Groundhog Day.
