My students are amazing and work so hard. They are 6th graders in a tiny rural east Texas junior high school.
My classroom is an adventure, and my students spend the year learning the skills they will need as they move forward in their junior high careers.
My students are excited to be on the "big kid" campus and begin the scary world of junior high. They are ready to explore the world through science and social studies (world history) and to expand their way of thinking. They take so much pride in their work and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning. They are still wanting to "please" their teacher and try so hard at all they do.
I want to provide my students with as many exciting, hands-on, and real world opportunities and adventures as I possibly can. Many of my students are economically disadvantaged and have limited resources. I want my students to know each and every day that they are smart, loved, cared for, and, most importantly, that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.
My Project
My students were so excited to get started on our classroom Christmas Around the World unit. They can't wait to read books, do activities, make projects, and complete escape rooms about Christmas in other countries. My students are so excited to get started on their country projects. They can't wait to read books and research about other countries and their way of life.
These TPT activities will enhance and enrich our Social Studies curriculum in 6th grade.
We do a large unit of study in Social Studies/World History on Christmas Around the World. My students love this activity. These activities, both hands on and digital, will be a great addition to this unit. My students are constantly searching for new books and information about Christmas and other holidays and how they are celebrated in other countries. They really enjoy the picture book stories of Christmas as well as books about the culture and cuisine that is found in other countries.
All of the Teachers Pay Teachers activities were chosen with my students in mind. My students love being able to research their countries, and these digital activities will help them continue to enjoy learning about countries and holidays around the world.
