Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic, fun and caring children!!
They come from a community where attendance in school is not seen as important.
The connection between perfect attendance and academic success is not existent in their experience. My students love school and want to come to school everyday. Many of them are brought to school by their parents which means that sometimes the parents keep them home. I love that my students are so hungry to learn and feel safe at our school.
My Project
Students that attend school everyday have a higher opportunity to be successful in school. By celebrating the students' attendance with a monthly award and an incentive will motivate them to come to school everyday. Through acknowledgement and celebration students will become more eager and excited to come to school. Parents and the school community will come together to celebrate the achievement of these students on a monthly basis. These awards, incentives for students and parents will impact our school by letting the school community know that we value their attendance. Academic, emotional and social skills will improve our school culture.
