Our students are recently-arrived immigrants and refugees, coming from more than 26 nations and speaking over 30 languages. They come to us with all kinds of imaginable and entirely unimaginable experiences and needs.
The courage our students show in facing daily challenges of life here in the US, in an effort to forge a hopeful future for themselves and their families, is nothing short of inspiring.
They are resilient, fun, caring, and deserving of everything that we can creatively muster to provide for them.
My Project
In 9th and 10th grade geometry class, students will engage with many important concepts, such as: shapes and properties, congruence and transformations, area and perimeter, similarity, three-dimensional, measurement, Pythagorean Theorem, and much much more.
Students will need the calculators and other appropriate tools to help them Apply Pythagorean Theorem and Triangle Sum Theorem to solve problems.
They will also need to calculate scale factors, ratios and proportion when creating models. The calculators will also be essential when measuring and calculating volume and surface area of solids, cubes, rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, cylinders. Students will solve single step equations, as well as multi-step equations/expressions. Students will also create 2D Blueprint designs using sequencing and descriptive language
