Help me give my students digraph and blend games, magnetic letters for building words, laminating sheets, digraph and blend puzzles, listening center for word books, and table top pocket chart for displaying words.
My 20 energetic first grade students need to get organized and ready for a successful school year. The best way of doing that is providing them with different organizational materials. We do many activities throughout the day and try the reach all the students different learning styles. "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." -B.B. King
My students' learning styles and needs are as diverse as their backgrounds, but they all have the yearning to be successful
Many families of our school have been in the school district for generations. I myself went to this school as a student that I am now teaching in.
My Project
Teaching phonics in first grade starts with lots of word building. We have a working with words center and need supplies to help the students learn digraphs and blends while having fun. Different activities gives them a choice of what they would like to do. The games will be rotated weekly at the working with words center. The laminating sheets will be used to keep directions from ripping. The listening center will be used to listen and follow along with books that have certain words in them.
Students will be able to play games and learn with each other.
They will not only work on phonics but also team building too. After building words using digraphs and blends, the students will be able to transfer their knowledge into reading and writing. Hands-on activities allows for many different learners to work at their levels. The students can direct their learning while the teacher oversees them.
