This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
During this coronavirus pandemic, my students whole lives have been changed. My 8 autistic students are use to routines, structured and coming to school everyday. They are now forced to stay home, complete assignments on google classroom with little to no routines or materials. My parents are forced to work 1:1 with them to access all of the materials and run ABA programs with little to no materials. Some of my students don't have computers or internet access is limited. This has been a struggle for all.
My Project
As a special education teacher of autistic students it is my job to continue to make sure my students are continuing to learn. Many of my students are unable to work independently on fine and gross motor skills due to limited resources. While they are at home they don't have the materials to continue with these skills, these materials will help them build their skills so they don't regress. Also, this will allow my parents to continue to work from home while my students can be independent. My students love sensory materials and doing arts and crafts but don't have access to the materials at home.
